10 Lessons to Learn from your Dog

Posted on

We know that if everyone lived a little bit more like a dog, the world would be better.  Here’s 10 Lessons you can learn from your Dog.

#10 – Greet everyone as if you haven’t seen them in years – Dogs are famous for going crazy whenever someone comes home.  How does it make you feel when someone is uncontrollably excited to see you?  Be that way for the next person you meet.  We promise it will make your relationship closer.

#9 – Get some fresh air and bathe in the sun – Sometimes we forget that fresh air and sunshine are not only good for our physical health, but can help fight against depression too.  Dogs crave physical activity outdoors.  We should too.

#8 – Play! – It’s built into a dogs DNA.  They just have to play.  Even if there’s nobody else available they’ll go grab a ball and throw it around to themselves.  Play is not just for kids.  It’s physical activity and interaction with a friend.  Go play a pick up game of something with a friend.  If sports aren’t your thing, figure out an activity that requires you to move… oh okay… I see what you did there… yes… that works too.  You Sick Puppy you.

#7 Be Memorable – You’ll never forget your dogs.  Friends and people will come and go, but a dog will remain in your heart forever.  Be special, caring and giving.

#6 Be Happy – Ever seen an unhappy dog?  OK, you’ve probably seen a scared dog.  You’ve seen a tired dog, but I promise you’ve never seen a dog moping to get attention.  Dogs have it figured out.  Happiness is contagious.  Seriously.  What’s the point of choosing to be anything but happy?  We love to be around these animals because they make us happy.  People like being around other happy people too.

#5 Poop at least once a day – that’s just good health.  I was also able to use “poop” in a blog.  Which leads us to #4.

#4 Be Silly – We take ourselves too seriously. Why can’t we be more like dogs? It doesn’t matter what company they’re in, they’ll just be goofy.  We love it.  They love it.  Let’s just get stupid.  Why can’t we all just be a bunch of Sick Puppies?

#3 Cuddle – Lot’s of people get pets just for this.  Humans need physical connection.  Make sure you’re giving proper attention to your kids and spouse.  They need it.

#2 Always Keep Asking for the Sale – It doesn’t matter how old your dog is.  They always beg for food.  They always beg to play.  They always beg for attention.  Do you love them less for it?  Do you put a “do no solicit” collar on them?  No.  You love them more for it.  They constantly remind you.  Asking for the sale isn’t annoying.  You’re providing reminders for clients that they should purchase.  There’s a difference.  Your dogs remind you every day to play, to feed them, to cuddle and to love.  You should be more aggressive in asking for the sale.  Don’t fear rejection. You reject your dog multiple times a day… and they don’t care.  Be likable and you can ask for sales forever and still be loved.

#1 Love Unconditionally – It’s the underlying theme in this post.  Love without condition.  Don’t hold grudges.  Don’t take tabs.  Give more than your receive.  Forget the wrongdoings of others.  Forgive AND Forget.  You cannot do one without the other.  The forget part isn’t forgetting what happened, but forgetting how it made you feel.  Be more like your dog.  Study them, play with them and learn from them.  Be kind to everyone… even when they aren’t kind to you.
